| ABOUT |
The mission of CorrectCare - Integrated Health is to provide healthcare management and operational processes to improve overall quality of care in a cost effective, quantitative manner.
CorrectCare - Integrated Health was formed in 1996 by a group of individuals with expertise, and a deep interest, in management and utilization review. The continuing goal of CorrectCare - Integrated Health is focusing on the medical management for correctional institutions. To this end, we have acquired expertise in information processing, utilization review, medical managed care, medical networks and risk management, auditing, recovery, claims litigation, and case management.
From the beginning, the efforts of CorrectCare - Integrated Health have been to strengthen ties within our state. To this end, we have assisted the University of Kentucky (UK) in creating the Kentucky Corrections Health Services Network (KCHSN) to deliver specialty care to the Kentucky Department of Corrections (DOC). CorrectCare - Integrated Health manages this system under a contract with UK for the benefit of the Kentucky DOC.
The KCHSN is a project that not only saves the Commonwealth of Kentucky revenue, but it also improves the health coverage of inmates. Under this system, inmates continue to receive primary care services at the state’s correctional institutions. When an inmate needs specialized care or hospitalization. the offender sees a provider within the KCHSN. This network consists of providers operating under fiscal guidelines and medical guidelines identical to those in place for non-incarcerated individuals. As with all medical procedures in a managed care environment, complicated procedures require pre-approval. This administrative change coupled with the active case management and administrative oversight provided by CorrectCare - Integrated Health imposes sound management practices of specialty care in the corrections environment. Providers are paid for care given to offenders using similar processes employed within public-sector medical networks.
