In-house Utilization Review Services Initiated

Effective October 1, 2004, CorrectCare implemented in-house utilization review services. After less than one year of collaberation with the Kentucky Department of Corrections, we identified the need for utilization review to be more corrections-specific than current commercial utilization review practices. Our department includes two RNs for reviews, an RN supervisor, and a Medical Director. Our UR department can easily combine correctional policies and protocols with the Commercial Standards. This has quickly proved to be another step toward greater medical cost reductions and more efficient operation of correctional medical care delivery.
